This month is all about giving merchants more places to surface recommendations and more control over how they reach shoppers. We've extended Frequently Bought Together recommendations to the cart page, opened up a public Recommendations API so you can use the recommendation engine anywhere, and made the Shipping Rates Calculator Plus free shipping bar easier to set up.
From bringing cross-selling further along the buying journey to configuring free shipping without any manual thresholds, these updates give merchants more flexibility in how and where recommendations appear.
Frequently Bought Together: Recommendations are now available on the cart page
You asked for it, and it's here. Frequently Bought Together can now bring product recommendations beyond product pages and into the shopping cart, giving merchants a new opportunity to increase product discovery at one of the most valuable moments in the purchase journey.
The new Cart page widget lets shoppers see additional recommendations while reviewing the products they are already considering buying. By introducing relevant cross-selling opportunities directly in the cart, merchants can encourage customers to add more products before moving on to checkout.
Merchants can enable the cart widget independently and choose how it fits into their store layout. Place it through the Shopify theme editor, above or below the cart, or use a custom CSS selector for more precise positioning. Recommendations on the cart page can use your Global and Random recommendation settings.
This extra placement gives you more flexibility to build a stronger cross-selling strategy across your store, instead of relying only on product pages. It also lets you decide when and where recommendations should appear, so they feel like a natural part of the shopping experience.
With Frequently Bought Together now reaching the cart, you have another chance to increase product visibility, encourage larger orders, and make more of every visit before shoppers complete their purchase.

Use Frequently Bought Together's recommendation engine anywhere, more easily
Frequently Bought Together now includes a public Recommendations API page with an easy visual assistant, giving merchants direct access to the app's recommendation engine without having to use the FBT widget.
The API returns the recommendations configured by Frequently Bought Together as JSON, including the product data needed to work with them, such as product IDs, images, variants and prices. It also respects the recommendation logic you already manage in the app, including Bundle tuning and Manual bundles.
From there, you decide how and where to use those recommendations. You can build your own custom widget, display recommendations elsewhere in your storefront, include them in emails, or bring them into any other custom experience that fits your business.

Shipping Rates Calculator Plus: Free Shipping Bar improved
Setting up the Free Shipping Bar is now easier. Merchants no longer need to configure free shipping thresholds manually, as the app automatically uses the free shipping rates already set up in Shopify Admin.
The bar takes the current market currency and customer shipping destination into account, keeping its progress messages aligned with the merchant's existing Shopify shipping configuration.
